Joaquín Blaya

Joaquín F. Blaya is a pioneer of Spanish-language media in the United States whose visionary leadership helped bring Hispanic representation into the mainstream. As a chief executive at leading media organizations, including Univision, Telemundo, and Radio Única, he expanded the reach and influence of Hispanic media while advancing its political, educational, and cultural impact across the country. Appointed by President George W. Bush to the United States Broadcasting Board of Governors, Blaya championed accurate, objective, independent journalism for global audiences, promoting freedom of the press around the world. Today, amid persistent inequities, Blaya remains a steadfast advocate for Hispanic communities using his platform to defend dignity, amplify Latino voices, and stand with families navigating fear and uncertainty
